What is the reasoning behind the prices for your research and news clips?
Our fees represent the enormous amount of time, cost, and expertise behind the production of our research and news clips. What we do is very time intensive and expensive. We employ a full staff of editors, news archivists, video processors, programmers, accountants, customer service reps, and computer specialists. Utah News Clips is also investing thousands of dollars every year to keep up with the continuing technological changes and advances in this industry.

Do you have discounts for non-profit organizations, schools or missionaries?
No.

How far back does your news archive go?
Up until December 2005, we maintained the industry standard for a typical news monitoring library - a 60 day archive. With the latest digital developments we are now able to maintain clips on a long-term basis. Original DVD quality recordings will be stored indefinitely. Clips older than 90 days will incur additional charges.

Are you a TV station?
No. We are an independent TV news clipping service. We are occasionally in contact with the local TV stations, but not affiliated with any of them.

Do you provide raw footage stations shoot?
No, raw footage and out-takes are property of the stations. We only have newscasts as they were aired on TV.

Do you provide transcripts?
No. However, we do have abbreviated text summary reports available for purchase.

Do you record anything other than news? (Survivor, Jay Leno, Lost, parades, games, telethons, etc?) Do you track TV commercials and ads?
No we are strictly a news retrieval service.

Do you record cable news programs?
Yes, with advance notice, we can do special recordings of available channels at no extra cost and if we don't have what the client needs, we'll try to find it elsewhere from our associates in other markets.

Do you clip newspapers and magazines?
No. The Utah Press Association is your best local contact for those.

Can I make copies of the clips I get from you?
Yes, you can make copies but not for commercial gain.

Can I use clips on my website or in a documentary?
No. Customers must have written permission from the stations to use news clips beyond any of their original intended uses that include: “internal review, analysis, research, and education.” Please note our disclaimer:

The material supplied by Utah News Clips may be used for internal review, analysis, education, and research purposes. Any rebroadcast, public display, marketing, promotional, or website use is strictly forbidden. Duplication for profit is also forbidden.

What is your return policy?
All media is checked for quality assurance before being released to the customer. On very rare occasions do defective DVD's or VHS tapes get past our “quality control” division. A defective DVD or VHS tape is the only case in which we will reproduce a customer’s order. Please read our requirements for viewing DVD's here. We do not re-do orders when a customer requests specific clips based on incorrect information. We clip exactly what the client requests. Utah News Clips is not liable for any loss or damage while DVD's or VHS tapes are in transit.
